The Noteworthy Moments from the Second Democratic Debate

  • by

Both two days of the Democratic Second Debate stood out with a few important episodes. During the Debate one could witness varying views and Electoral programs within the Democratic Party. The pivotal issue and the apple of discord was the Universal health insurance, which almost half of the debate was dedicated to. The two candidates with high rating, namely Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders totally differ from the rest, as they flatly refuse the private health insurance. Those candidates were also the most active ones during the debate.

The 2nd day of the debate was hotter. In contrast to Joe Biden’s mild posture during the first debate, this time he was more prepared for the debate and was actively bringing counter-arguments to his criticism. As during the last debate, this time also Kamala Harris’s main target was Joe Biden. However, as Joe Biden was more prepared, he was able to oppose this criticism precisely. Tulsi Gabbard in her turn made the most serious critical attack at Kamala Harris. The main accusation was the issue that Kamala Harris prevented the revelation of important documents that could save the life of a person sentenced to death. But she didn’t do that until the Court made her do that.

During the debate an interesting statistic was brought about, which states that during the first two years of Obama’s presidency more immigrants were deported from the country than during the first two years of Trump’s presidency. Biden assured that during his presidency such type of things won’t happen.

Despite all the reciprocal criticism among the candidates as Amy Klobuchar has put it. ‘’… ultimately we have to beat Donald Trump’’. During the whole debate the  candidates were actively criticizing Donald Trump trying to persuade their constituents that they are the ones to beat him. One of the candidates (Andrew Yang-Asian by origin) even noted that the opposite of Donald Trump is’’ an Asian guy who’s good at math”, obviously hinting to himself.

After the 2nd debate slight changes happened  in the candidate’s approval ratings. The leading candidate  is still the former Vice-President Joe Biden and his main opponents are Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren and Kamala Harris. According to some polls, after the 2nd debate Tulsi Gabbard improved her rating with 1%, who is the only candidate who visited the Republic of Artsakh.
