Suren Sargsyan “Armenia and Bush Himself”

Suren Sargsyan’s book “Armenia and Bush Himself” delves into the early Armenian-American relations using declassified documents. The years 1988-92 hold significance in grasping the core of these ties, shaping American policy in our region. Declassified papers reveal the United States’ key interests in Armenian-Turkish relations and the Karabakh conflict. The book uncovers details on “Goble’s Plan”, Section 907, George Bush’s son’s visit to Armenia, and negotiations spearheaded by Levon Ter-Petrosyan. It marks the first publication of secret reports by American diplomats from Yerevan to Washington and confidential directives from the capital.

In 2023, Suren Sargsyan presented his book to George W. Bush, the 43rd President and son of the 41st US President, George H.W. Bush. In exchange, President Bush 43 presented his own book about his father to Suren Sargsyan. Additionally, Mr. Sargsyan gifted a copy of the book to former Secretary of State under Bush 41, James Baker, at his Texas home. The book is also available at the US Library of Congress and the Bush 41 Presidential Library.
