The Second Senator Who Put a Hold on the Resolution of Genocide Recognition

  • by

On November 21, the second attempt of the adoption of S.Res. 150 on recognition of Armenian Genocide was prevented by another Republican Senator David Perdue. Senator argued that its passage during a sensitive period “would undermine the administration’s commitment to overcoming real challenges in our bilateral relationship with Turkey”.

It should be noted that David Perdue is one of the most loyal Senators in the Upper Chamber of the Congress, and he is the first congressional candidate to directly receive support from a Trump-backed fundraising committee.

David Perdue has also ties with Turkish lobbyists. Below, we represent only those ties, for which there are distinct proofs in the form of documents. The most active financing was provided by the National Turkey Federation Political  Action Committee (TURPAC)- $6500 in 4 installments- 09/12/2018-$1500, 09/13/2017-$2500, 01/11/2017-$1000, 03/10/2015-$1500. Besides the lobbyists from Greenberg Traurig hired by Turkey communicated with David Perdue regarding US-Turkey relations.
