The primary 2020 in New Hampshire was held on February 11, during which voters elected their preferred candidates, based on which the delegates of the state, together with other state delegates, will formally elect the nominees of their parties in the 2020 Democratic National Convention and Republican National Convention.
Highlights of New Hampshire primary:
✔The leading Democratic candidate in New Hampshire is Bernie Sanders, followed by Pete Butigieg with a slight margin. Amy Klobuchar got 3rd place by surpassing former Vice-President Joe Biden and Senator Elizabeth Warren.
✔ Although Bernie Sanders won in New Hampshire’s popular vote, Pete Buttigieg and Bernie Sanders have an equal number of delegates (9 delegates each).
✔ According to the cumulative results of the Iowa and New Hampshire elections, the total number of Pete Buttigieg’s delegates exceeds Bernie Sanders’ number, with 23 and 21, respectively.
✔Back in 2016 during the New Hampshire primary, Bernie Sanders received 22% more votes than Hillary Clinton-his main opponent and Democratic Party’s nominee of 2016 Presidential elections, receiving 60.4% and 38% votes, respectively.
✔Joe-Biden’s failure in Iowa and New Hampshire, Biden himself justifies with the fact that 99.9% of African-Americans have not voted yet: that is why Joe Biden has much expectations from South Carolina and Nevada with their far more diverse electorates.
✔Following New Hampshire primary results two presidential candidates declared the suspension of their presidential campaigns. The first was Andrew Yang, followed by Michael Bennet.
✔ The leading candidate of the Republican Party and the acting US President Donald Trump, not having serious political opponent within his Party, again received the majority of votes in New Hampshire, more than 85% of votes and 20 delegates, remaining the main candidate of the GOP.
✔ In New Hampshire Donald Trump received around 129.7 thousand popular votes, which is more than the ones received by Barack Obama (49 thousand), George W. Bush (54 thousand), Bill Clinton (76.8 thousand) and Ronald Raegan (65 thousand) for their reelection campaigns.
✔New Hampshire is an important state for Donald Trump, taking into account the fact that in 2016 Presidential elections he lost to Hillary Clinton in this state by margin of 0.3% votes.
✔ The next election- Nevada Democratic Caucus will take place on February 22.
